BRG&S Received a Defense Verdict on Behalf of LAUSD

BRG&S received a defense verdict on behalf of Los Angeles Unified School District June 2007 BRG&S received a defense verdict on behalf of Los Angeles Unified School District in a case where a former LAUSD employee who had retired from the district in June 2001, applied to return to the district in the position of high school Spanish teacher. Plaintiff contended that she was not hired for the position of high school Spanish teacher because of her age, over forty years old. LAUSD contended that Plaintiff was a Band Three teacher because of her experience and credentials, and that it was required by a consent decree to hire a Band One teacher for the position applied for by Plaintiff. The jury found 9-3 in favor of LAUSD that there was no age discrimination.
